Court docket and record of pleas before the court of Judge James Duane Doty including records of the first Circuit Court session held in the part of the Michigan Territory which became the state of Wisconsin. The docket includes six cases and shows names of plaintiff and defendant; court and sheriffs fees; and record of entries such as the filing of bills and petitions, and the issuance of summons. The record of pleas covers three cases; one concerning a disputed land sale, a marriage annulment, and an apprenticeship contract. It shows pleas and motions made before the court, court ruling, and other pertinent documents. The cases involve prominent men including John Jacob Astor, Ramsay Crooks, Joseph Rolette, James H. Lockwood, Pierre Paquette, Joseph Brisbois, and Henry S. Baird.
